Tin Man a.k.a. Johannes Auvinen is of Finnish descent, having lived all his life in Los Angeles. Tin Man says his tracks relate to the history and mood of acid house. Tin Man updates the sound of 80s Chicago acid sound to the 21st century. Maybe one can find in Tin Man’s sound some comparisons to such as Laurent Garnier’s and Ludovic Navarre’s acid projects: Choice, Shazz, Deepside. Tin Man’s “Love Sex Acid” 12″ (life12in-17) comes up with three 303 excursions, ‘Falling Acid’ includes a gloomy Satie-esque intro, the sound then growing into clattering snares and a slowly but steadily increasing 303 pulse melody and some metallic sounds until slowly fading away. ‘Let’s Do It Acid’ features 303 bass writhing hypnotically like a snake to some click-clack snare sounds and a haunting whisper sample. ‘Love And Sex Acid’ is acid sound in deep house mode with some tasty electronic piano-like licks to boot.
