Arapu belongs to the now well established school of Romanian minimal techno, and his 12″s have always flown off the shelves in recent years. This might be because minimal techno on vinyl is hard to come by these days, but also because he’s so damn in tune with the likes of Villalobos and the rest of that whole pioneering circle. He launches the new Liniar imprint with the clicks and low-end bumps of “Pitfall” – another one of those tunes that seems to have been sculpted from stone – followed by the much housier and slicker way of “Escape” on the B side. Last but certainly not least, “Wasting” goes for a more lo-fi approach and comes out with something of a Balearic gem for the downtempo sets. The likes of Jose Padilla would certainly have approved back in the days…
