Holland’s Bobby Donny is in its early days, but Frits Wentink’s label is already showing signs of real quality among its house peers. The second release is by largely unknown newcomer San2, and the shadowy producer opens the festivities with the dubby, grainy chords of “Impartial Perspective” – a instantly seductive groove, we must say – followed by the dirtier, more squelching low tones of “Distinguishing Bias”. On the B-side, Wentink himself turns “Impartial Perspective” from being a mellow house affair into a wonky slice of indistinguishable club music – if it wasn’t totally clear, we think it’s bloody good.
